Bendy and the Ink Machine All Recordings: Full Guide

Chapter 1: Moving Pictures — Start Your Recording Checklist

Hunting down Bendy and the Ink Machine all recordings means checking the rooms and side passages that tell the studio’s darker story. Those tapes also matter for achievements: each chapter has a listening achievement, and completing all five earns The Voice Collector. This Bendy and the Ink Machine all recordings guide walks through the locations in chapter order, including the branching paths and hidden room in Chapter 3.

There are 32 playable audio logs in total. The chapter achievement checklist below covers 31 recordings across both Chapter 3 paths; an additional story recording appears inside the Ink Machine in Chapter 5.

The routes below follow the v1.5.1.0 layout. On Steam, update 2.1.0 makes Chapters 1–5 available regardless of story progress, while the bonus Archives remains separate.

Chapter 1 has just two recordings, but they sit on opposite sides of the floor-collapse sequence.

RecordingAreaWhere to Look
Wally Franks — “Offering to the Dogs,” also called “This Machine”Art room hallwayOn a small table between two closet doors, along the hallway toward the theater.
Thomas Connor — “Dirty Job,” also called “Dark and Cold”BasementOn a shelf in the first basement area after the floor collapse and draining sequence.

Play Wally’s recording while exploring for the six items needed to repair the Ink Machine. Before moving on, check the table itself rather than scanning only doorways.

After falling through the floor, drain the room and inspect the basement shelf for Thomas’s tape. Playing both recordings completes The Past Speaks.

For your Bendy and the Ink Machine all recordings checklist, mark these separately:

  • Wally’s hallway recording.
  • Thomas’s basement recording.

Chapter 2: The Old Song — Seven Music Department Recordings

Chapter 2 spreads seven recordings across the Music Department, its adjoining rooms, and Utility Shaft 9. Several are close to the main route, but the upstairs balcony and locked closet deserve deliberate stops.

The two Sammy Lawrence recordings have alternate titles. “Distractions” is also called “The Pump Switch,” while “The Prayer” is also called “Can I Get an Amen?” Use their locations to distinguish them.

Recording or LandmarkAreaWhere to Look
Opening recordingLower starting passageBreak through the opening doorway, descend the stairs, and turn right at “HE WILL SET US FREE.”

Closet recordingLocked closetInside the closet opened after finding Wally’s keys.
Sammy’s “The Prayer” / “Can I Get an Amen?”Utility Shaft 9Follow the ink river to the first alcove on the right, near a miniature Bendy cutout.

Clear the Recording Room in two passes: check the piano downstairs, then climb to the projector balcony. That keeps the two recordings distinct on your checklist.

The closet tape also gives the instrument sequence for the music puzzle. The order changes between runs, so listen to the sequence in your own game instead of following a fixed combination.

Afterward, continue through the Infirmary and down into Utility Shaft 9. Follow the river of ink and inspect that first right-hand alcove before continuing.

For Bendy and the Ink Machine all recordings progress, finish with seven Chapter 2 entries checked off. Playing the full set earns Old Problems.

Chapter 3: Rise and Fall — Both Paths and the Sunken Room

Chapter 3 is the chapter to plan around. It contains 10 recordings across the Angel and Demon routes, and each route has an exclusive tape. You need separate runs of the chapter to visit both branches.

Start in Heavenly Toys, then keep a location checklist as Alice’s tasks send you between floors.

Sunken-room recordingBelow Level PDrain the hidden route using the valve behind the boarded area on Level 14, then return to Level P.

Handle the Route Split Before Tracking Floors

At the Angel and Demon split, mark the path you take and its recording. On your return run, choose the opposite branch and play its exclusive tape.

For a Bendy and the Ink Machine all recordings run, the important distinction is the recording itself: the Demon tape sits in an ink-flooded room, while Susie’s Angel tape rests on a sofa.

Do not mark both simply because you have reached the point where the routes reconnect.

Open the Hidden Sunken Room

The sunken room requires more preparation than the other recording stops:

  1. Open the boarded Level 9 room using Alice’s axe.
  2. After surviving the Butcher Gang attack, collect the axe that appears there if you do not have the Tommy Gun.
  3. Go to Level 14 and find the boarded area in the back-right corner, using the elevator-facing orientation.
  4. Break through and turn the valve.
  5. Return to Level P and enter the door beside “I DON’T WANT TO WORK HERE ANYMORE.”
  6. Follow the corridor and descend the previously flooded stairs to the recording.

Reaching this recording also earns Long Forgotten Self.

Collect the remaining tapes before handing Alice the final ink hearts. That handoff is your stopping point for exploration, so check the Level 14 crate and hidden Level P route first.

Your Chapter 3 checklist should include:

  • Both route-exclusive recordings across separate runs.
  • The boarded Level 9 room.
  • The Level 14 crate.
  • The sunken room beneath Level P.
  • All remaining locations in the table.

Playing all 10 recordings completes Hearing Voices.

Chapter 4: Colossal Wonders — Archives, Storage, and Maintenance

Chapter 4 has seven recordings, beginning in Management and continuing through the amusement attraction areas. Check each room before moving into the next major encounter.

Maintenance recordingMaintenanceIn the back-left corner of the room patrolled by the Projectionist.

In the Archives, separate the recording stop from the book puzzle. The tape is on the central reading table; progressing through the area requires pushing five protruding books back into their shelves.

Play Susie’s recording before concentrating on the shelves. It is easy to focus on the puzzle and leave the center table unchecked.

The Attraction Storage tape starts the Bertrum encounter, so finish looking around before activating it. In Maintenance, follow the Projectionist’s movement and work toward the back-left corner for the final recording.

For Bendy and the Ink Machine all recordings completion, use Still Listening as your Chapter 4 milestone. The seven-location checklist includes the encounter-triggering Bertrum recording along with the tapes found during exploration.

Keep the two Archives areas distinct: this chapter’s reading room contains Susie’s recording, while the separate bonus Archives is the character exhibit area.

Chapter 5: The Last Reel — Administration and the Final Story Tape

Chapter 5 has five recordings on the chapter achievement route, followed by an additional story recording inside the Ink Machine.

Begin checking after the swarm battle and the collapsing pathway. The first stop is reached through the doorway marked “Film Vault”; the remaining four are in Administration.

Wally Franks’s Administration recording is called “Cake” or “Chocolate Cake.” Thomas Connor’s Gent home office recording also appears under two names: “Progress Report” and “Office Report.” These alternate names describe existing tapes, so avoid adding duplicate checklist entries for them.

Administration’s Butcher Gang patrols make the room-by-room sweep more demanding. Track the offices you have entered so repeated trips for the pipe puzzle do not blur together.

Play all five chapter-route recordings to earn Now Hear This! Later, enter the giant Ink Machine and follow its linear interior route to the additional story tape. That recording is separate from the five required for the chapter’s listening achievement.

Finish your Bendy and the Ink Machine all recordings run by checking these achievement names:

  • The Past Speaks — Chapter 1.
  • Old Problems — Chapter 2.
  • Hearing Voices — Chapter 3.
  • Still Listening — Chapter 4.
  • Now Hear This! — Chapter 5.

Completing all five chapter listening achievements earns The Voice Collector.
